the La Conner Brewing Company will host local author Tom Robbins for a special book signing on Tuesday, May 5 from 6:30-8:00 pm. Come early for dinner and purchase Tom's new book, "B is for Beer". La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum ~ hosts two exhibits running through June 28, 2009. "Vision in Fibers" curated by Shiela Groman. Sheila Groman’s fiber art can be described as “original contemporary traditionals.” The second exhibit is "Birdscapes" curated by Karin Franzen. Karin Franzen, a 26-year resident of Alaska and a full-time studio artist, creates art quilts that are both innovative and soundly tied to tradition. Her work revolves around one of her favorite subjects, the birds of Alaska. Located at 703 S. Second St., La Conner.

Lincoln Theatre ~ presents "Greater Tuna" on Thursday, May 7th at 7:30 pm. Two actors play 22 characters in famous quick change comedy. Tickets are $24.50 & $29.50. "Booker T" comes to the Lincoln Theatre on Saturday, May 16th at 8:00 pm. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and arguabley the most famous Hammond B3 player in history! Tickets are $25 & $30. Museum of Northwest Art ~ Has two exhibits currently running through June 14. "Finds Refined" is a group show featuring emerging and established artists who use found matter in subtle or amazing ways in their creations. Reused or ordinary materials are essential to the work, for aesthetic reasons or to incorporate its history or past life. The second exhibit is Phillip Levine Survey: Sculpture, Drawings, Paintings. In the second floor galleries, the Museum of Northwest Art presents a survey of sculpture, drawings, and paintings by Phillip Levine.

RoozenGaarde ~ Blooming Tulips can still be found in RoozenGaarde's display fields and will continue to look beautiful through at least Mother’s Day. Very popular late tulip varieties such as Greenland, Spring Green, Queen of the Night, the Parrots, Ice Cream, and all of the elegant French tulip varieties are now posing for their close ups. Skagit County Historical Museum - Popular exhibit returns to the Skagit County Historical Museum: “Harvesting the Light: Images of Contemporary Skagit Farm Life” . La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum ~ Textile Enrichment Series at the La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum in May: “Clothworks” with Ted Hoffman, president of Clothworks manufacturing, Saturday, May 9, 2009, 1-3 pm.
