Bears ‘N Friends is working to raise money for the Anacortes Relay for Life - Cancer Research- We are selling a 13" Gund Bear with a sweatshirt that says "Need a Hug" or "Could you use a hug". Gallery 109 invites you to an opening reception for artist’s Peggy Doyle, painter and collage artist, and Marguerite Goff, ceramic artist, Saturday, June 6th from 6-9 pm. This show will run June 6 – July 26, 2009. Gallery 109 is located at 109 Commercial Street, La Conner. The gallery is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please note: Gallery 109 will change gallery name to Gallery Cygnus in the next couple of months.

Hellams Vineyard is offering a Wildlife Cruise – Saturday, June 13th, 6:30 – 8:30 pm. The Tri-Valley Rose Society will hold its annual Rose Show in the historic 1888 Schoolhouse on the grounds of Christianson’s Nursery. The Museum of Northwest Art’s 17th Annual Art Auction is Saturday, June 20th. The Skagit County Historical Museum ~ All fathers will enjoy free admission on Father’s Day, June 21. The current featured exhibit is “Harvesting the Light: Images of Contemporary Skagit Farm Life” a stunning photography exhibit focusing on the farms, the people and the bounty of Skagit Valley through the lens of 11 local photographers and the words of Skagit farmers. The Skagit County Historical Museum is also featuring a lovely quilt recently donated by the Territorial Daughters Chapter 2 for the Museum’s annual Quilt Raffle. NOTICE TO BOATERS:

The Swinomish Channel-BNSF Rail Road Swing Bridge on the Swinomish Channel between Anacortes and La Conner will be closed for urgent repairs (replacement of center bearing and pinion gear). In order to do this, the span must be fixed in place and jacked up. The period starts 7 a.m. June 8 and ends June 12, 2009. The risk of mechanical failure influenced our decision not to postpone our approval until the end of boating season. Please spread the word and feel free to call me if you have questions.
