The Museum of Northwest Art presents a new exhibit by artist Ginny Ruffner. "Aesthetic Engineering: The Imagination Cycle" features new large-scaled sculpture and installation work that cross-fertilizes flora, fauna, and art. This exhibition is a mix of glass, steel, and bronze with explosive flowers, massive leaves, and twisted growing vines, including over 1,000 flowers, and eighteen freestanding sculptures made from bronze, steel, and glass. The La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum presents two exhibits from Japan. "Path to Edo: Quilts from Japan”. Miwako Kimura, curator and director of the Hanatsunagi-kai Quilt Club in Japan, brings the life and color of Japanese culture to the Northwest in this dazzling exhibit of works produced by a group of quilters from her native land. Sashiko: Old and New" Kazuko Yoshiura, a sashiko artist for nearly 30 years, creates immaculate and painstakingly stitched fabric art that channels this centuries-old traditional style of fabric reinforcement and brings it into a fresh new light. Skagit County Historical Museum presents “Lost Cities of Skagit: Rediscovering Places of Our Past”. Through rarely seen photographs, maps, stories and artifacts, the exhibit tells the intriguing tales of 17 “lost” Skagit communities including Avon, Bancroft, Bay View, Cypress, Cokedale, Dewey, Finn Settlement, Fir/Conway, Harmony, Hickson/Thornwood, Hoogdal, Marblemount, Milltown, Montborne, Samish/Atlanta, Sauk and Skagit City. August 9th~ The sixth annual Porterhouse Brewfest for the Lincoln Theatre, a sizzling brews and block party, is bigger and better than ever with 30 invited microbreweries from the Pacific Northwest.
